Engagement Sessions

Engagement sessions allow for you and your fiance to get to know us and for us to get to know you before your big day. You will feel a lot more comfortable with us (and our big cameras) if you’ve had a session with us prior to your wedding. These photos are different than the photos you will get on your wedding day. They are meant to capture your relationship together right now. Imagine what your parents’ engagement photos might have looked like and how those photos would differ from their wedding photos. What would they have worn back in the day? Forget the fancy up do your mom had for the wedding, what everyday hairstyle did your mom wear when she was this age? Did you dad sport facial hair? Bell bottoms? 80’s whitewash jeans? What location would your parents have chosen for photos? How might that location look different today? Their engagement photos would tell so much about their lives at that time. We want yours to do the same. And we want your memories of the session to be one of the highlights of this time in your life.

What do most couples do with these photos?

Many couples use their engagement photos for announcements, save the dates, a custom photo guestbook (included in many of our wedding packages), invitations and decorations for wedding-related events (engagement parties, showers, bachelor/bachelorette etc) and of course prints for themselves or gifts for family members.

When should we do our engagement session?

This depends on you! If you want photos for your save-the-dates, we’ll need to get the session done before you make the save-the-dates. If you’ll only be using the photos for your guestbook, we can really do it anytime. Take a look at some of our engagement posts and see if there is a particular location that you prefer at a certain time of year (if you want fall colors or cherry blossoms we may have a small window to get those photos!). As far as time-of-day, shooting when the sun is low is the most ideal so either late afternoon or early morning is best.

What should we wear?

Wear clothes that you love and feel confident in. If you can’t decide, bring a few differnet options. Most couples bring more than one outfit and change halfway through the shoot. Definitely bring shoes that you can walk in since it is possible we might find ourselves off-road. Keep weather in mind – if it may get chilly, bring something warm. You don’t want to look freezing 🙂

Where should we shoot?

If there is a location that’s special to you two, let’s shoot there. If you just have a general location preference (field, beach, city, etc.) we can make suggestions!

Can we shoot outside of the Baltimore area?

Absolutely but travel fees may apply.

How long until we get our finished photos?

Depending if it’s busy season, approx two weeks.
